On Thursday, June 18, Futures Studio and FAST – Foundation for Armenian Science and Technology – held a webinar entitled: “Nation under Lockdown, Borderless through Diaspora”. The webinar featured Nadia Gortzounian (President of AGBU Europe), as well as Zareh Sinanyan (Armenia’s High Commissioner for Diaspora Affairs), Ruben Vardanyan (Co-Founder of IDeA Foundation) and Varuzhan Nersesyan (Ambassador of Armenia to the US).
The seminar focused on the Armenian diaspora’s response to the pandemic and to the ensuing economic crisis. It provided Nadia Gortzounian in particular with an opportunity to review AGBU’s multifaceted response to the crisis.
Helping out in times of crisis is very much in AGBU’s DNA: in the last four months, AGBU has once again been hard at work helping people in Armenia, as well as in Syria, Lebanon and throughout the diaspora. But the crisis has also provided an incentive to accelerate transformation, as AGBU boosted its online activities, ranging from innovative content delivered via the AGBU Armenian Virtual College – AVC, such as the “Learning zone” to countless other online services and to online events and meetings of every kind.
