While the attainment of higher education is highly valued in Armenian society, access for students with physical and learning disabilities is severely limited, as it is hindered by a lack of resources, pedagogical tools, and understanding on the part of K-12 administrators, government, and society generally. AGBU London is organizing a presentation with the participation of Dr. Randall Rhodes (AUA Provost), Yelena Sardaryan (AUA Counselor) and Dr. Benjamin Barnard (SANE), with a focus on three themes:

1) the current situation in Armenia regarding the inclusion/exclusion of students with disabilities,

2) AUA’s current tactics to meet the educational needs of students with physical and learning disabilities, as well as those struggling with undocumented mental health conditions, and

3) AUA’s participation in the Erasmus + Inclusion Project, along with partners in Armenia, with the goal of initiating reforms aimed at addressing current challenges across K-12 and higher education.

The presentation will also assess the role of NGO’s in increasing the participation of people with physical disabilities, learning difficulties and mental health conditions in the education system of Armenia.
