Istanbul – Commemoration of the Armenian Genocide

Date:21 April 2017 - 24 April 2017
Time:

Since 2013, AGBU Europe has joined the international association EGAM as well as Turkish groups on April 24 to commemorate the Armenian genocide in Istanbul, where it all started in 1915. AGBU Europe decided to be present, once again, in 2017.

Our partnership with EGAM (the European Grassroots Anti-Racist Movement) and with human rights organizations in Turkey has made a lot of difference. It has benefitted from considerable publicity, particularly in 2015 (see press reports). More profoundly, with EGAM and our Turkish partners, we have shown that recognition of the Armenian genocide is not only of interest to the Armenians, but to all those who believe in democracy and human rights, especially in Turkey.

The commemorations proper will be preceded with conferences and meetings, starting on Friday, April 21 at the end of the afternoon, and ending Monday, April 24 late in the night.
