Charity Cocktail – Plovdiv, Bulgaria – November 22, 2016

On Tuesday, November 22, AGBU YP-Plovdiv together with an organizational committee of parents, including the following families: Kochian, Tomasyan, Boadjian, Garabedian, Saryan, Mardirosian, Papazyan, Derkalestinian and Hugasyan organized a charity cocktail in Plovdiv, Bulgaria. The main coordinator of the initiative was Haik Garabedian, chairman of the YP-Plovdiv and board member of AGBU-Europe.

The motto of the event was “Youth in Action” and it took place at one of the most luxurious hotel of the city, “Grand Hotel Plovdiv.” The Armenian spiritual father of Plovdiv, Der Hrach Muradian opened the cocktail after its blessing.

Performing artists were the vocal band “Sirun” (long-time former members of AGBU “Erebuni” band) and Yordan Dichev –contrabass.

Fundraising was dedicated to the financial support of the theatrical group “Malvina Manykian”, created in 2002, and for the youth involvements in several European programs such as Erasmus+ and the Europe of Diasporas project.

YP-Plovdiv hosted close to 100 guests among which were directors of high-schools, teachers, university professors, businessmen, business-ladies, local politicians, artists, representatives of Rotary Club-Plovdiv, parents and most of the children of the AGBU Saturday school.

Special complimentary addresses were received from: the Governor of Plovdiv, Mr. Zdravko Dimitrov (honorary member of AGBU-Sofia), Ms. Sonya-Avakian Bedrosian (chairlady of AGBU-Sofia) and Mr. Nicolas Tavitian (director of AGBU-Europe).

The young members presented their past participation in projects such as: A Europe of Diasporas, Erasmus+, the international summer camp in Odessa, Ukraine and the European YP gathering in Lyon, France.

Several donations were received from some local businesses, including Bulgarian businessmen.

The event was covered by national media (Newspaper Marica and the Bulgarian National Radio) as well as by the local Armenian newspaper “Erevan”.
