Screening of “1915″, the movie – Sofia, Bulgaria – November 7, 2016

17 November 2016

On November 7, in the Russian Cultural and Information Center (RCIC), took place the premiere in Bulgaria of the movie “1915” dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the Armenian genocide. The authors,  two young filmmakers and journalists from the United States – Alec Muhibyan and Garin Ovanesian- visited Sofia on this occasion.
The film recreates the events that occurred a century after the bloodbath, on the other side. It is all about denial – and namely, what happens when an attempt is made to erase the memories of the past, and what happens if these attempts are opposed. This is a story of a man whose mission is to call back to life the ghosts of 1915.

For the occasion, young caricature painter Stepan Sargsyan’s work representing Serge Tankian, Mesrob Machtoz and comics was also presented.
